Peter’s first letter emphasizes the certainty of Christ’s Second Coming and the suffering believers will endure in their lives. But, hope is to found, along with spiritual growth. We can turn our attention to the time when Christ is revealed and a crown of glory is our reward. The Second Coming should be the driver and motivator to living steadfast and holy lives in the midst of an ever growing hostile world.
Peter’s second letter warns of the false teachings that can occur in the church. These false teachers wreck havoc and ruin many spiritual lives. Peter combats such false teachers by identifying the way they deceive others, The only way to guard against false teachers is to fully understand the whole counsel of God.
